We raised over $3,000

Thank you to everyone who donated in support of our fundraiser for the North York General Hospital Foundation. We passed our initial goal of $2,500 and are working towards our stretch goal of $4,000.

Thanks as well to the Ace of Spades Lounge for hosting the live portion and our magic video elf, Chris Mayhew. Thanks especially to the wonderful performers who donated their time and talents both live and virtually: Jonah Babins, Farley Carter, Ian Crawford, Rob Fishbaum, Katarina Gligorijevic, Anthony Lindan, Chris Mayhew, Brian Minuzzo, David Peck, Phil Pivnick, David Sutherland, Ben Train, and Mark Wicken.

The donation page is still up, so if you have a moment to contribute, any amount is greatly appreciated.

And the show will be kept live for the next little while if you would like to go back and watch. Chapter markers have been added to the video so you can skip to watch your favourite performers.

Thanks again for all of your support. Wishing everyone a safe, prosperous and magical New Year.

Photos from An Evening with Joshua Jay

Thank you to everyone who attended our sold out performance at Jokers with Joshua Jay and Chris Mayhew, hosted by the Sid Loraine Hat & Rabbit Club and the Toronto Magic Company. Here are some photos to the event.

One Hundred Magicians in Canada

One hundred Canadian magicians were asked to contribute a five second clip while social distancing at home. Here is the result, assembled by Brent and Sarah Nicholls:

The video includes appearances from friends including Rob Testa, Matt DiSero, David Merry, Harry Zimmerman, David Peck, Nicholas Wallace, Ben Train, Jonah Babins, Shawn Farquhar, Aaron Matthews and Mark Correia.

If you enjoyed the project, we’re encouraging viewers to donate to Food Banks Canada during this difficult time.

Magic at the Toronto International Film Festival

Every year, the Toronto International Film Festival brings its own special brand of chaos to downtown. A large section of King Street outside of Roy Thomson Hall and the TIFF Bell LightBox is closed off for a massive street festival. There are lineups, red carpets, special promotions and sound stages everywhere you look. And on top of that, a little bit of magic courtesy of me and my partner in mystery, Chris Mayhew

King Street - Downtown Toronto

For the past several years, I've been privileged to work for TIFF, providing magic outdoors for countless people. It's always an exciting weekend and this year, the weather could not have been better.

There were literally thousands out on the street excited to see premieres or to catch a glimpse of red carpet celebrities.

I also bumped into the host of Face 2 Face, David Peck, who was out for screenings an interviews. (And offering snarky real-time commentary on magic tricks!)
