Magic@theCage continues

We moved our weekly show to a new venue, and somehow made it twice a week, back in February. We've been going strong there for two months with all of our Sunday shows in March being sold out. Tomorrow night's show (Mar 30) is also sold out. We currently have tickets available for Tuesdays and Sundays in April and for our extra show April 30 with Vincent Hedan.

To round out the month, I received some survey results from guests at the show. Here are a few snapshots:

We hope to see you out at the show sometime soon.

The Wish

Coming in April, we will be presenting a special one-night only performance featuring a guest performer from France, Vincent Hedan. His new show, The Wish, will be at The Crimson Lounge (map) on Wednesday, April 30 at 8:00 PM. 06

I first met Vincent two years ago at the Canadian Association of Magicians convention where he spent most nights sitting around a table fooling everyone and generally making our brains hurt. I'm delighted that he's able to include a visit to Toronto while he's in North America this spring and that he's able to do his new show (in English, even!) for us. It's a fantastic mix of magic and mind reading and I'm really looking forward to it.

For those of you that attended our show in the fall with Dani DaOrtiz from Spain, you know that there is something truly different and captivating about magic from Europe and this is something you don't want to miss.

This is an intimate event with limited seating, so please reserve your tickets early. We are also serving dinner early and the menu looks terrific so you can join us.

Tickets are available on our site. They are $30 at the door, $25 online. We are also serving dinner at 7:00 for those interested in eating before the show.

Additional information is available here.

Pretzel Aftermath

I just found out, via John Talbot, that the Wendy's Canada #expectToBeAmazed Facebook campaign won Bronze in the Shopper Innovation Awards:

More than 4,000 people entered the contest for the trip (1,000 people above target) during the six-week campaign, the brand’s Facebook page garnered 60,000 new “likes,” the videos received more than 320,000 views and 8.7 million impressions were tracked.

It's been long enough, I can finally confess... I never actually got to taste the thing. We weren't allowed to eat the ones that were prepared to go on screen and I don't really eat that much fast food and I missed my chance.

Oh well... next magic-themed ad campaign....

Winchester Retrospective

We recently had to pack up our show, Magic at The Winchester Stage and Bar and switch to a new location. To my incredible relief, the transition was seamless (with tremendous thanks to the staff at The Cage for making it possible to pull that off)! Since we moved over, many people have contacted me to let me know how much they enjoyed the Winchester and our events there, so I put together a tiny retrospective. Really, it's just my favourite photos from the archive I've been keeping, but I actually got to counting, and we did thirty events there in various formats over the past fourteen months. So thank you to everyone that came out to support us there and I hope we'll continue to see you going forward.

The photos come from various people (including members of the audience) and are of varying quality. Enjoy!

We are continuing to perform every Sunday night at The Crimson Lounge inside of The Cage 292 (map). Information and tickets are available at www.abracadabaret.com/cage

A Change of Venue

I very much regret to report that due to circumstances beyond our control, The Winchester Stage and Bar is no longer available for our performances on Sunday evenings. Fortunately, our Tuesday night venue, The Cage 292, has taken us in. Going forward we will continue to offer our shows ever Sunday night at The Crimson Lounge, located inside The Cage 292 (292 College Street @ Spadina). We will continue to honour all tickets and reservations from Magic at the Winchester at the new location.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

And most importantly, thanks to the management of The Cage for accommodating us on short notice.

This Sunday's (February 16) show is already sold out. Tickets for future shows are available at www.abracadabaret.com/purchase-tickets.
