This evening we wanted to do something different and special for our entertainment. James Alan is a magician. His show, Magic & Martini ran for four years in Toronto with over two hundred sold out performances. He has performed across Canada, and more recently he created the interactive virtual experience Bring Magic Home which has been performed for audiences in twenty-six countries. He is here to prove that magic really is for grownups. Please join me in welcoming James Alan.

This evening we wanted to do something different and special for our entertainment. James Alan is a magician who proves that magic really is for grownups. He has created several long-running shows including Magic Tonigt, Magic & Martini — which had over two hundred sold out performances. During the pandemic, he created the virtual experience Bring Magic Home which was featured over four hundred times for audiences in twenty-eight countries. He also co-produced & hosted virtual fundraisers which raised over twenty-two thousand dollars for local charities. Currently he stars in a mysterious show at an undisclosed location hosted by a real ghost. It is so secret I’ve been told I’m not allowed to talk about it. But maybe you can try to get more out of him after the show is done.
As there has been a magician in the room, I’m sure you’ll all want to take a moment to make sure your watches and wallets and keys are exactly where you left them. I’ve also been told that this show is interactive. For those of you who think sitting further in the back makes you less likely to be invited to participate: we know who you are and it doesn’t work like that.

James Alan proves that magic really is for grownups. Performing for over fifteen years, he has earned a reputation for producing experiences which are “thought provoking, astonishing funny and thoroughly entertaining.” For seven years he was the star of his own shows, Magic & Martini and James Alan’s Magic Tonight, which ran weekly in Toronto with over four hundred sold out performances. His one-person show Lies, Damn Lies & Magic Tricks was featured at the Summerworks Performance Festival. During the pandemic he crated Bring Magic Home, a live interactive online magic experience which was presented for audiences in twenty-six countries, as well as hosting and co-producing a series of virtual fundraisers that raised over $22,000 for local charities including North York General Hospital, the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation and the Daily Bread Food Bank. In addition to performing, he works with Magicana, a charitable organization with community outreach programs organizing performances for seniors and workshops for children in hospitals. His writing and original magic have been featured in the world’s largest magic periodicals, M.U.M., The Linking Ring, Genii - The Conjurer’s Magazine, Magicol and MAGIC Magazine.
