Last week on Magic Tonight

See what we were up to last week. We had fun with some rather strange adventures. When I left my home on Thursday, there was no rain in the forecast. By the time I was on the 401 en route to Mississauga, it was raining on me. And two tricks into the show at The Franklin House, the electricity magically disappeared and we did the rest of the show by imitation candlelight. Mysterion, who is the quintessentially creepy performer, was perfectly at home in these conditions.

The other two shows with Ben Train were (surprisingly) less eventful.

Adam Pal's PalmCast

I did a very fun short interview with Adam Pal and his Live From My Bedroom palmcast (apparently you can't call it a podcast because he has religious objections to all things Apple.)

We had fun. I was interviewed by children. We talked about the evolution of Magic Tonight and my start in magic. We're actually in the back of The Cage 292 where we host the show in Toronto. Have fun listening if you've got a few minutes to spare.

Godwin's Law & Magic

Godwin's Law states that the longer a conversation continues on the internet, the higher the probability that someone mention's Hitler. This video takes that in a somewhat unexpected direction. It's slightly amusing... but only slightly. But it's nice to be mentioned, even if it's not by name.

If you know enough about magic in the city, you can tell who he's talking about, although it's not always clear. I've discussed it with a few colleagues and we estimate a 20% chance that I'm supposed to be the Hitler character. That's a new one.

The video was posted anonymously to a YouTube channel with no other videos or activity. If the author wants to claim credit, let me know.

Last week on Magic Tonight

We are continuing to have loads of fun on Magic Tonight at The Franklin House, The Bear and The Crimson Lounge. This week featured performances by illusionist Ken Margoe, comedy magician Chris Westfall and the ridiculously tall Brian Roberts. Take a look at what we've been up to:

Introducing Sketchy Magic

Coming in April to the Crimson Lounge (our traditional home for Magic Tonight) we're presenting a new kind of magic show. This is Sketchy Magic:

Created by Chris Westfall & Chris Mayhew, both incredibly funny performers in their own right, this new show blends magic with both improv and sketch comedy to create a unique live experience. It's incredibly exciting because you never know what will happen next. (And as someone who has worked with both of these guys before, trust me, anything can happen.) And it's unique because the participation from the audience makes it so that every show is a one-night-only event. Tomorrow things could turn out very differently.

Sketchy Magic is a full evening out with dinner and a hilarious show. Join us in Downtown Toronto for an unforgettable experience. Tickets are available at the Abracadabaret website (www.abracadabaret.com/purchase-tickets). Readers of this blog can use the code reality for a special discount on the price of tickets and dinner.

The show is entirely family friendly... almost... sort of... well... children may learn some new words in this show.

Last week on Magic Tonight

We're seeing more and more response to the show in Toronto and the new shows in Mississauga and Pickering. Last week we had sleight of hand magician Phil Pivnick, mystery mind reader Ben Train and the legendary comic performer Wes Zaharuk. The photos don't quite do justice to the amount of fun we have. If you haven't had the chance to join us yet, you're truly missing out!
