Weddings are supposed to be magical!
For a wedding reception, we recommend cocktail magic before dinner. It brings all the surprise and astonishment of impossible things happening right in front of you, at exactly the moment your reception needs an energy boost. Guests have been sitting since the ceremony, the bridal party is probably off taking photos, and with people arriving from different corners of your life, everyone could use a good excuse to start talking to someone new. It turns a quieter part of the night into something people are still talking about at brunch the next morning.
Cocktail magic is essentially a string of semi-private interactive performances for small groups throughout the space. It's designed for guests holding drinks and dressed their best. It is family friendly and appeals to all ages, from grandparents to groomsmen. It brings groups of people together and leaves them with a unique and memorable shared experience.
“James wowed the wedding guests during cocktails and was a real icebreaker! He was professional, interesting and really stunned everyone with his tricks! Would highly recommend him for any event.”
“James arrived early and was ready to go on schedule. He was friendly, approachable and interacted very well with both kids and adults. James was great and would hire him again without hesitation. It was a great experience!”
Good Questions
-
This style of performance is designed to fit into your schedule — the timing is up to you. We recommend keeping the magic contained to the cocktail hour and wrapping things up as guests sit down for the first course of dinner.
-
We're available to perform across Canada. In general, there are travel charges for events more than 100km outside of Toronto, with additional charges for events that require overnight travel.
-
We have options for that, described on the Private Events page, and it's certainly possible. Experience has taught us that the agenda after dinner is usually too tightly packed with toasts, dancing, cake, and bouquet tossing to fit in a larger performance — but if your celebration follows a less traditional format, we're happy to explore what works for you.
-
Our performances are aimed at adults, but this style of magic is tailored to whichever small group is watching it — so there's room to include age-appropriate material if younger relatives are part of the mix.
-
Yes, regularly. We have a separate show designed for more intimate gatherings — a different format entirely from the cocktail magic we do for receptions. You can see more on the Private Events page.

A 10% deposit is required to confirm your booking, and it's non-refundable. If you cancel more than a week before your event, you won't owe anything further; within a week of the event, the full performance fee is due. If your plans change, we're happy to offer one complimentary reschedule to a new, mutually agreeable date — just let us know more than a week before your original date. In the rare case that we need to cancel (it's actually never happened), you'll get a full refund, including your deposit.

“The show was fabulous and my guests who attended are still raving about it! James did a great job of getting everyone involved and blended comedy into the show effortlessly. This show was on par with some of the best magic I’ve seen at the famed Magic Castle in Hollywood. I couldn’t recommend this show more! Also, the customer service was magnificent. It was so easy to schedule the performance and emails were answered in a super timely manner.”
