James Alan is a Toronto-based professional magician and sleight-of-hand artist, performing corporate, private, and virtual magic shows for audiences across Canada. His work has been described as "thought provoking, astonishing, funny and thoroughly entertaining."
For seven years he starred in his own recurring shows, Magic & Martini and James Alan's Magic Tonight, together running over four hundred sold-out performances in Toronto. His solo theatrical work includes Lies, Damn Lies & Magic Tricks (Summerworks Performance Festival) The Uncertainty Project (Wychwood Theatre) and, most recently, Mysteries and Lies (Toronto Fringe Festival). During the pandemic he created Bring Magic Home, a live virtual magic experience performed for audiences in twenty-six countries, and hosted a series of virtual fundraisers that raised over $20,000 for North York General Hospital, the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, and the Daily Bread Food Bank. He also works with Magicana, performing for seniors and running workshops for children in hospitals. His writing and original magic have been featured in Genii – The Conjurer's Magazine, M.U.M., The Linking Ring, Magicol, and MAGIC Magazine.
