These introductions are meant to be read out loud by the host of the event before the performance starts. They are intended as samples and do not need to be read out loud word-for-word. If you would like help composing something tailored specifically for your event and audience, please let us know.

If you aren’t sure which one is right for your audience, shorter is almost always better.

Please have fun reading this… especially the last paragraph.

This evening we wanted to do something different and special for our entertainment. James Alan is a magician who proves that magic really is for grownups. He has created several long-running shows including Magic Tonight, Magic & Martini — which had over two hundred sold out performances. During the pandemic, he created the virtual experience Bring Magic Home which was featured over four hundred times for audiences in twenty-eight countries. He also co-produced & hosted virtual fundraisers which raised over twenty-two thousand dollars for local charities. His most recent one-person show, Mysteries and Lies, was featured at the Toronto Fringe Festival. Currently he is part of a mysterious experience at an undisclosed location hosted by a real ghost. It is so secret I’ve been told I’m not allowed to talk about it. But maybe you can extract more information from him after the show.

As there has a magician in the room unsupervised for some time, please take a moment to make sure your watches and wallets and keys are exactly where you left them. (PAUSE) I’ve also been told that this show is interactive. If you think sitting in the back means you won’t be picked (PAUSE) we know who you are and it doesn’t work like that."

Please join me in welcoming James Alan.
