Photos from Magic at the Marienbad

Last week, I appeared in London at the Marienbad Restaurant in a special monthly show. Also on the show was the great Canadian comic, Glenn Ottaway (now retired, but who occasionally pokes his head out to have some fun and make people laugh.)

Thanks to everyone who attended. Here are some photos of the event courtesy of the Amazing Corbin.

Magic at the Marienbad

I will be appearing in London, Ontario, at the Marienbad. This is a monthly performance series that blends magic and comedy with dinner and drinks. I’ll be appearing alongside Corbin the Charming Cheat and the legendary Canadian comedy performer Glenn Ottaway. (Glenn appeared on my show Magic Tonight several times and despite officially being “retired” he is always a joy and a delight to watch perform!)

Cocktail hour begins with some mingling close-up magic (along with a cash bar which features over 80 varieties of beer) followed by the show at 7:00. Advance tickets are $17, or $20 at the door.

Newest Trick In The Book - Grumpy Old Men Edition

This week, I will be guest hosting The Newest Trick In The Book. This weekly magic open-mic, put on by the Toronto Magic Company, is now in its third season. I’ll be joined by some friends: Mike Carbone, Dr. Sammy Jakobowicz, Glenn Ottaway and Wes Zaharuk. This is going to be a fun evening of magic, comedy and the unexpected. The goal of the show is to provide a safe place for magicians to experiment with new material. It can be a rare opportunity to see something which has never been seen before, or a chance to see everything go horribly wrong.

Newest Trick is free to attend, but you can reserve tickets online to guarantee yourself a seat.

The Grumpy Old Men of Magic

I'm pleased to announce a special appearance coming up in September at the Social Capital Theatre in Toronto. I will be appearing with Matt DiSero and the legendary Glenn Ottaway

Ottaway-Glenn.jpg

He was the host of Canada's longest running magic dinner theatre, A Little Night Magic in Toronto. He's old, he's grumpy and he's been making Canadians laugh since before just about everyone you've ever met was born. He also knows magic, so watch out! (We guarantee almost every word out of his mouth is inappropriate so consider yourself warned.)

Matt has worked with comedy greats such as Drew Carey & Jerry Seinfeld, has appeared on Penn & Teller: Fool Us and at the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood California.

Accompanied by his trusty companion Hartnell (his pet chicken) this bow-tied bedazzler is one of Canada's national comedy treasures.

Making Faces

It's been a while since I've posted one of these compilations. Most people don't realize how difficult it is to take photos of live performance. There is no chance to go back and try it again, the moments are gone forever. But what that also means is that sometimes the moments you capture are truly strange. So take a look at some of the funny faces performers made so far this year on Magic Tonight. Enjoy the lovely faces of Glenn Ottaway, Ben Train, David Merry, The Sentimentalists (Mysterion & Steffi Kay) and me:

Magic Tonight 2015

As 2015 comes to a close, I flipped back through our photo gallery from Magic Tonight. This year we did 85 shows (at least that's the number we have photos from. We may have skipped a couple.) This would not have been possible without the venues who graciously hosted us - The Crimson Lounge, The Bear and The Franklin House! I also need to thank the performers who appeared for us, in alphabetical order:

Bill Abbott, The Irritatingly Photogenic Keith Brown, Ryan Brown, Michael Close, Joe Culpepper, Matt DiSero, Michael Feldman, Ron Guttman, Ken Margoe, Chris Mayhew, David Merry, Zach Mirza, Bobby Motta, Mysterion, Glenn Ottaway, Paul Pacific, Jason Palter, Jenny Parsons, David Peck, Phil Pivnick, Steve Reynolds, Brian Roberts, Lukas Stark, Rob Testa, Ben Train, Jason Verners, Nicolas Wallace, Chris Westfall, Wes Zaharuk

But most importantly, our thanks to our audiences; the (literally) thousands of people who came out to see us perform. This would not have been possible without your interest and support.

So enjoy a little look back at 2015:
