After seeing Norm Becks' magic lecture at The Magic Castle recently, world-renowned mentalist Max Maven said it was one of the best lectures he has seen: funny, clever, skillful, and very well presented.

An in-depth look at one of Norman's favourite tools for fooling magicians (and everyone else). This is a prop nearly all magicians own and very few use. Norman has re-engineered it from the ground up with mind blowing results.
Normal will also discuss his creative process. Learn how to create magic for yourself which is simple to perform and "fools the pants off of people."
Performing a lot, I get introduced to a lot of new people and remembering names is tough. I actually have an extremely good memory, probably just a bit shy of what most people would label as freak-status, but names are difficult. Part of it is that my memory is poorly focused: I remember a ton pretty accurately but not necessarily the things I wanted to remember. I'm very good at remembering names, and very good at remembering faces, and absolutely awful at remembering which name goes with which face. A few nights ago at a show, I was so incredibly relieved that both of the people up on stage with me were named Carol, I was grinning for the entire length of the trick.
None of this was really news to me, but I know many people, performers included, who face similar problems and maybe this will be helpful.

This week we're off doing a super secret something or other so there will be no show at the Franklin House. So if you have a few minutes to spend, enjoy a highlight from one of our previous shows. The main feature is a sequence with an egg based primarily on the work of Max Malini, which was later expanded on by two American magicians; Charlie Miller and Johnny Thompson. The second piece is a bit of a surprise based on the work of Spanish master magician Juan Tamariz. It's something I've never done on film before. So enjoy a little piece of Magic Tonight. I had a blast performing this weekend. Less of a blast sitting on the 401 trying to get to our Mississauga and Pickering shows, but the audience made up for it.
