It was a show that came from both ends of the spectrum on Sunday night at the Crimson Lounge: Jason Verners is probably the youngest performer we've ever had on the show and Ron Guttman has been reading minds since before either of us were born. We had lots of fun and we need to thank our sold out crowd... in particular the two ladies who took a special interest in the contents of my pockets and weren't afraid to show it.... We're continuing on with tickets available for our shows through the end of September. See who's performing on our site in the coming weeks. Magic Tonight Update
While this weekend's show is already sold out and this post potentially serves no purpose except to aggravate those people who don't have tickets, we're pleased to announce an additional special guest, Jason Verners. Jason is visiting from British Columbia and asked if he could be on the show. And as anyone who knows me, I have a great deal of difficulty saying no to anyone wearing a crushed velvet jacket. The reason he's in town is because every year in a slightly secret location not too far from Toronto, young magicians gather at Sorcerer's Safari, where they are able to stay isolated from society where it is less likely an unsuspecting bystander will become lost and wander to close and be asked to select a playing card.
Magic Tonight continues into the fall at the Crimson Lounge in Toronto. Readers of this blog can use the code reality for a discount on the price of tickets and dinner when purchasing online.

An Atheist Card Trick
Magician Michael Close, who has appeared as a guest on Magic Tonight several times, contributed an Atheist Card trick to the Openly Secular Campaign. Take a peek:
This week on Magic Tonight
This week's show (which is un/fortunately sold out) features the special guest mind reading of Ron Guttman. Ron performs some rather astonishing interactive explorations of clairvoyance, divination, prognostication and jiggery-pokery. He's been a guest on the show a few times before. Unfortunately, we can't accommodate any more guests for this Sunday's show, but tickets for future events are available at www.MagicTonight.ca/tickets. Last week on Magic Tonight
We had a wonderfully fun time. As producers go, I'm a little bit young. As such, I don't really have what it takes to stand up to veterans of the business and so people who have been doing this for a long time essentially get to do whatever they want on my show because I don't really have the guts to tell them no. This is made slightly worse when the people happen to be taller than me (which is relatively hard to accomplish.) So when the gypsy philosopher David Peck and the rubber-chicken master Matt DiSero decided they wanted to try something zany and off the wall, I was nervous. I've never seen grown men get so excited over a Jay Sankey trick....
If you missed the show, take a look at what we were up to. If you want to come join us, the show continues through the summer at the Crimson Lounge in Toronto. Readers of this blog can use the code reality for a discount on the price of tickets and dinner when purchasing online.
James Judd at Soulo in Toronto
This weekend, James Judd presented a series of one-person shows organized by Tracey Erin Smith at Soulo Theatre, his Mid-Career Retrospective as a sort of kick off for his upcoming tour in those United States I was a little busy this weekend performing elsewhere and pretending to be Leonardo DiCaprio in The Great Gatsby (long story!) but I did manage to catch one fabulous and hilarious show Friday night and his storytelling workshop on Sunday afternoon. I now have things to read and stuff to work on.
The workshop was inspiring and informative. The more I do this, the more I realize that the shows I do are a strange hybrid somewhere between solo theatre and a Backstreet Boys concert.
And the shows, by all accounts were wonderfully well received. The social medias are atwitter.
