The Rocky Horror - a must see show this November

Coming up November 9 at the Revue Cinema in Toronto, there is a show that you do not want to miss: The Rocky Horror. The show has an incredible lineup of talent, on the subject of which I shall gush more momentarily. The show is a benefit for the legendary Canadian comic performer Glenn Ottaway. Glen has been featured guest of mine on Magic Tonight several times, where he is always hilarious and often slightly risqué. Back when I was still trying to figure out which shoe went on which foot, he was the host of A Little Night Magic for about a decade.

I first encountered Glenn at Morrissey Magicin Toronto where he was performing at their anniversary party. At one point in his presentation, there was a youngster who was sitting in the front who was being slightly disruptive. When Glenn threatened to silence the youth by pissing directly into his mouth, I knew at once that I had found a role model of the highest order.

This show has an incredible lineup. Matt DiSero, David Merry, David Peck & Brian Roberts have all appeared on Magic Tonight. Glenn Foster is an incredible Canadian comic and Jeff and Tessa Evason are simply brain-melting. The evening is hosted by Mike Bullard (of Open Mike with Mike Bullard fame) and I might possibly sneak in and do a little something.

So please head over to www.TheRockyHorror.com and grab yourself some tickets before they're all gone.

This week on Magic Tonight

School's back and we're back. We had shows in Toronto over the summer, but this week, Magic Tonight returns to the Franklin House in Streetsville — a wonderfully historic and genuinely haunted venue — on Thursday nights. Our first show back with Ryan Brown is already sold out. Ryan is a sleight of hand manipulator who has been recognized in recent years with the Toronto's Best Magician Award, first place in Mississauga's Got Talent (how he can be eligible for both without moving has baffled the greatest legal minds in the country) and the Len Cooper Memorial Award.

And this Sunday, at the Crimson Lounge in Toronto, we have the star of Illusions of Grandeur, the new television magic series currently airing Friday nights on CityTV, Zack Mirza. This show has a very limited number of seats remaining.

Tickets for all of our upcoming shows are available online. Readers of this blog can use the code reality for a discount on the price of tickets and dinner when purchasing online.

This Sunday on Magic Tonight

This Sunday, I'm thrilled, tickled and otherwise titillated to announced that we have the incomparable Nick Wallace on the show. He'll be performing with me on Sunday night at 7:00 at the Crimson Lounge (Inside The Cage 292 at College & Spadina, Downtown). Nick is a master mystery performer who, according to reliable sources, obtained his power by selling his soul to Satan... Seriously, you'll never guess how hold he is by looking at his picture.

If you don't believe in ghosts and you're not afraid of the dark, Nick Wallace can help you with that.

If you're able to make it to the show, readers of this blog can use the code reality for a discount on the price of tickets and dinner when purchasing online.

You can also see him performing his spectacularly frightening show Seance at Theatre Passe Murraille later this month. More information is available at www.Abracadabaret.com.

This week on Magic Tonight

On this week's show at the Crimson Lounge downtown, I'll be joined by comedy magician extraordinaire, Chris Westfall. Chris appeared for a month here with his partner in absurdity Chris Mayhew performing Sketchy Magic and he's about to embark on a Canada-wide tour of his family show, Chris Westfall and the Porcelain Princess. Chris is always funny and always zany and we're delighted to unleash him for you this Sunday. Tickets are available for our September dates at www.MagicTonight.ca/tickets. We have spots for Toronto and a very limited number for the Franklin House in Mississauga. This Sunday on Magic Tonight

Our special guest this weekend on Magic Tonight in Toronto is the inimitably creepy Mysterion. A psychedelically coiffed psychic who will mess with your mind and make you question your most deeply held fashion choices. Mysterion has been on this show, and it's progenitors, more times than I care to count. He is always entertaining, always delightful and unavoidably strange. Tickets for the show are available on our site. Magic Tonight Update

While this weekend's show is already sold out and this post potentially serves no purpose except to aggravate those people who don't have tickets, we're pleased to announce an additional special guest, Jason Verners. Jason is visiting from British Columbia and asked if he could be on the show. And as anyone who knows me, I have a great deal of difficulty saying no to anyone wearing a crushed velvet jacket. The reason he's in town is because every year in a slightly secret location not too far from Toronto, young magicians gather at Sorcerer's Safari, where they are able to stay isolated from society where it is less likely an unsuspecting bystander will become lost and wander to close and be asked to select a playing card.

Magic Tonight continues into the fall at the Crimson Lounge in Toronto. Readers of this blog can use the code reality for a discount on the price of tickets and dinner when purchasing online.
